Southampton v Arsenal Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview – Premier League 2016/2017. St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton will be the hosting venue for Arsenal’s penultimate away match of this year’s Premier League. Arsene Wenger needs a win to keep his team in the race for a top 4 position, granting them Champions League football. Southampton is melting down with the end of the season nearing. After a great start of the season, the Saints seem to have forgotten how to win a match. Below you can find all our predictions and betting tips.
Southampton v Arsenal Betting Tips & Predictions
Southampton is in the middle of a 4 game streak without a win. They have also not scored a goal in their last two outings. I am not that convinced Southampton is still giving their full 100% now there is nothing to play for anymore. They gave Liverpool a hard time over the weekend, but were lucky not to lose after James Milner missed a penalty kick late in the game for the Reds.
Both teams have met 3 times before in this season. In the previous match for the EPL, Arsenal won at home with 2-1. In the League Cup both teams met with Southampton coming on top. The Saints won at the Emirates with 0-2. The last time Southampton and Arsenal met was in last January for the FA Cup. Arsenal totally dominated the Saints on their home ground, travelling back to London with a 0-5 victory in the bag.
Arsenal on the other hand is in full contention for a top 4 placing, and will need to win. Statistics look bad for the Londoners, since they only won 1 of their last 6 matches on the road. This is also where I think the value lies. My prediction is that Arsenal will win.
Taking all the before mentioned into consideration, my best betting tip for Arsenal to beat Southampton with odds of 1/1.

Southampton v Arsenal Preview & Team News
The Saints will be looking to end a 4 game streak without a win at home versus Arsenal. Slowly but surely Southampton is sliding further down the league table, after such an amazing start of the season. For a long time it just looked as if Southampton would be battling with Everton for 7th spot. In their last 17 Premier League matches the Saints only won 5 times.
Southampton coach Claude Puel saw Charlie Austin return to the squad last week. Unfortunately he will be without V. van Dijk, A. McCarthy and M. Targett.
The Gunners have a rather mediocre season. Of course the predictions that Arsenal would be a title candidate were unfounded, still there were people believing in their chances. Now, with just a hand full of matches to go, Arsenal finds itself in the midst of a battle for a top 4 spot in the final ranking of the Premier League. If they manage to pull off a victory at Southampton, they will be trailing Manchester City by 1 point and Liverpool by 2 points. Three wins from their last three matches could very well land Arsenal in the top 4.
Arsene Wenger has to find the right replacements in his line up for the injured S. Mustafi, Lucas Pérez and Santi Cazorla. All three players are expected to be out for the match tonight versus Southampton. Laurent Koscielny will be a questionmark for tonight’s match. Wenger sheds some light on tonight’s match at the official Arsenal website: pre-match interview Arsene Wenger.
Former Arsenal and Ajax legend Dennis Bergkamp celebrates his birthday. One of the best to have ever worn the Arsenal jersey. Guess we all remember this stunner versus Newcastle United, one of the best goals ever in English football:
As it's Dennis Bergkamp's birthday, here's a treat for us all ?
What a wonderful, beautiful goal this was ? pic.twitter.com/7NTDpu7StK
