Senegal face off with Colombia in their last group match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
A draw will see Senegal progress while a win could take them top of the group if Japan drop points against Poland.
The Lions of Teranga drew 2-2 with Japan in their second group match, and are now level on points with the Blue Samurai.
Colombia, on the other hand, are third in the group with three points after losing to Japan and defeating Poland in their first two group matches.
We have prepared a betting preview of the match to help ease your work while you prepare your bet slip. Here are our thoughts on how popular betting markets will play out. Odds used in the article are the latest from bookie Betfair.
PREDICTION AND BETTING PREVIEW
Either team have lost only once in their last 6 fixtures. If we infer from that, then this will be a very balanced match. However, if we look at their form in Russia, and how convincing their wins have been, you would agree that Colombia have the edge on Senegal on quite a number of fronts.
The Coffee Growers have been quoted at a favorites 17/20 to take all three points. A share of the spoils is down at 27/10 while a win for Senegal is an 18/5 bet.
Scorer of Colombia’s second goal in their 3-0 win over Poland, Radamel Falcao, has been priced at 13/10 to find the back of the net and 7/2 to be the first on the scoresheet ahead of teammates Carlos Bacca and James Rodriguez, who are both 5/1 bets to open the deadlock and 2/1 to score anytime.
Senegal’s Sadio Mane, who has registered one goal so far in the tournament, is priced at 6/1 to score the first goal of the match and 12/5 to score anytime. Muriel has the same odds for being the first on the scoresheet but is slightly under the Liverpool forward at 5/2 to score anytime.
Diafra Sakho is 13/2 and 13/5 to break the deadlock and score anytime respectively while Miguel Borja and Jose Izquierdo are down at 7/1 to be the first on the scoresheet and 11/4 to score anytime.
OVER/UNDER 2.5 MATCH GOALS
Three of Senegal’s last four fixtures have produced more than two goals each. That should continue today with Colombia’s own record in the 2018 World Cup showing a similar trend. They lost 2-1 to Japan in their opening round before thrashing Poland 3-0 to dump Robert Lewandowski and co out of the competition. With qualification hanging on the balance for either team, we expect attacking football that should lead to goals.
Betfair have quoted the over 2.5 goals prospect at 19/20 and under 2.5 goals at 20/23.
BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
Senegal’s defense has proven to be their weakest link having conceded in both of their first two group matches. Colombia, on the contrary, managed to keep a clean sheet against Poland, a feat we reckon will be difficult to pull against the Lions of Teranga who have been pretty clinical with the little chances they create.
Both teams to score is a 20/23 possibility on Betfair while the contrary is slightly lower at 20/21.
