A whopping amount of 1 million pounds may seem like a dream to many, but this dream has come true for one. A keen knitter and retired care worker form Northumberland has managed to earn this lottery in the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker draw.
A Norham resident, 63 year old Violet Grahamslaw, found that she has hit the jackpot. By luck, she rummaging through a bunch of unchecked lottery tickets and asked her husband, 68, to run to the local store to see if any of them had made it. Fortunately, one of them had, and the couple were declared jackpot winners.
As Violet puts it, she was able to tell immediately what had happened as soon as her husband returned from the store since he was behaving all nervous. With shaking hands and a pale white expression, Violet says, John asked her to call a number. When Camelot too assured Violet that she had indeed hit the lottery, she couldn’t believe her ears and almost went into shock.
The first one with whom Violet shared this news was her mother who mistook 1 million pounds for 1,000! She later informed both her children too, Paul and Tanya, 33 and 31, and they apparently couldn’t control their ecstasy.
Violet still finds to difficult to fathom that this has n fact happens to her. Being a regular lottery player since 1994, and buying her tickets from the same shop, she feels it is a little unreal to win such a big amount.
When asked what she plans to do with her savings, she says that she is going to splurge in a new kitchen which is the first on her list, followed by her living rooms and other rooms in the house. She also plans on going on a vacation with her entire family to celebrate.
Next, she decides to purchase a brand new sewing machine to aid n her knitting. Violet is into knitting and dress making since she retired from Tweed View Residential Care Home three years ago.
The winning ticket which turned out to be a fortune was bought by Violet from a local store on Castle Street, Norham. VSQC12577 was her winning code from the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker draw on Friday 18 August 2017.
The EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker intends to create two millionaires on Tuesday and Friday each which makes it a four every week, that’s over 200 per year! So no surprise that we report more often on jackpot winning stories!

Although not everyone realizes that they are jackpot winners: There are still two winners missing, who won the jackpot in March, and have only 1 month left to claim 1 million pounds each!
