A redevelopment plan to create a new casino in a venue in Blackpool has been passed.
The owner of the Scunthorpe Football Club, Peter Swann, initiated the step for such development. He applied the Blackpool council to make changes in the Sands Venue on the Central Promenade.
The plan includes the part of the auditorium and the stage area that occupies two floors, first and second, those are being used as the gaming destination. Though they have taken some initiatives for the redevelopment, still they have some hurdles to overcome. The first thing is that the Blackpool has four licenses only and all those licenses are being used.
The Sands Venue will see a major change in the coming years. The permission has granted to make a five-star hotel with 96 bedrooms on the top with the addition of the two floors.
It will also get the attention of the more visions due to the casino. The plan was submitted in the March with some details like the casino will be able to create thirty full-time jobs. Moreover, the venue is expected to operate for 24 hours.
In the submission report, the building is described as a brutalist structure of the 1970s. The councilors passed the application in June.
The Sands has a beautiful restaurant on the ground floor on the Promenade side. Some new projects are coming up like a luxury hotel.
The idea first came to Mr. Swann and then it was supported by his wife Karin. As said by her, they are planning to make a special luxury hotel to boost the economy of the town. It will have everything to get the attention of the world-class visitors.
The ground floor of the Palatine building still has two discount stores and a disused nightclub area that will be found in the basement.
Though the venue has got the approval for the casino use, still they need to take some adequate steps to convert it into reality. They will have to transfer one of the four existing licenses to open the casino in this building.
The council proposed for the super-casino license that comes under the 2005 legislation. But the Government supported the Las Vegas-style hotel gambling.
Grosvenor had the license when Sam Tai Casino closed in 2015. In the current conditions, he has two licenses.
The latest Blackpool casino was opened in 2012 at Coral Island that created 65 job opportunities including both the full time and part time jobs.
The final casino license is with the Genting on Queens Promenade.
