The new casino in Bath is nearing its opening day as the hoardings are being taken down and the last touches are placed at the same location in Sawclose, Bath. The project is due to be completed in October, which is the moment when all of the hoardings around the same structure are scheduled to come down.
The skeletal work related to the building will be done by October which will allow the owners of the casino, hotel, and two accompanied restaurants to move in.
Hotel and Restaurants at the New Casino
One of the two restaurants, Zizzi, a famous Italian chain will open its doors around Christmas time while the Z Hotel with its 150 rooms, a burger restaurant Byron and casino will open gradually over the course of the next 6 to 9 months.
Z Hotels are boutique and budget-friendly hotels mainly based in London, which are great for a stays lasting one or two nights.
Giggling Squid, a Thai food chain is building and opening its restaurant right next door and will feature outdoor seating. In fact, the entire area just opposite of the Theatre Royal will be transformed with things like walkways, light effect embedded in the pavements and dedicated pedestrian areas.
Ross Chester, the manager of the development of the Deeley Freed Estates declared that the project is going well and that they are really happy with the pace of the development. He believes they will finish by October with everything on track and a team of 50 contractors working to put the finishing touches.
The development’s large seating area will be set up so it gets the evening sun, just opposite of the Theatre Royal and close by to the Komedia, a vibrant nightspot.
Mr Chester stated that the whole development will not be completed until the summer of next year but the restaurants should open by Christmas. Once finished, the area from Sawclose to the Kingsmead Square will become a pedestrian domain similar to a square with very limited and light traffic.
Both Byron and Zizzi will have tables and chairs on the outside, a full drink menu and cover an area of about 4,000 sq each. The outside floor area will be one of the main features of the spot, which will be the space artists from the local institution will be able to use for their cameo performances.
The ground lighting on the outside will change occasions like Valentine’s Day, Christmas or New Year which should attract more night-time visitors.
Mr Chester stated the counsel desisted to make Bath a destination that covers the times of the evening and night where the casino should definitely aid this while also revitalizing the entire area including places that are like Bridewell, currently lagging in development.
Fire at Bath’s Casino Construction Area
Recently, the project ended up in the media when a fire broke out on the ground floor and enveloped the building. The same fire, however, which is believed to have been caused by arsonists, has not been able to produce much damage or delay the end date for the work.
Developers are claiming that the fire caused minimal damage, which ended up being mostly smoke staining on the walls. At the same time, the police are trying to use leads gathered from the social media to arrest and charge those who started the fire.
