Manchester City vs Manchester United will kick off at 8.00 BST tonight at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester. It is the third time both teams meet this season, City won the first leg in the Premier League, United won their confrontation for the League Cup. All betting tips point towards a home win for City, but beating a defensive United is not an easy task.
Tonight Champions League football is at stake as both teams are in the middle of a fight for 3rd and 4th spot in the standings. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur seem just a little too far off to overtake for both Manchester teams to get engaged in a title fight.

Manchester City vs Manchester United Preview
Manchester City has never really played a part in this season’s title race and always looked certain to claim a top 4 spot allowing them to participate in next year’s Champions League. A bad run most recently versus Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal has thrown Guardiola’s men back into the mix of contenders for a top 4 finish.
More then ever does Manchester City need a win in a big match against a big opponent. The Citizens have fared very well all year against lower ranked teams, but in particular the top matches versus direct competitors have caused a lot of problems. The good thing though for Manchester City is that this will be the last real hard opponent they face this season. it is pretty safe to say that in case of a win tonight, City will play in the Champions League next season.
Pep Guardiola will have a rather large list of injured or uncertain players. İ. Gündoğan is already out for some time and is definitely unavailable tonight. S. Agüero and Fernandinho left last weekend’s match early and are a question mark just like Silva. Gabriel Jesus, Stones, and Sagna are returning from injury and might also be fit to play.

The Mancunians are playing catch up already all season and with the end nearing are completely back in contention for a Champions League ticket. With rather boring and sometimes plain poor football, Mourinho does manage to get the results in. Although United tends to draw a lot of matches, it barely loses, and this showcases exactly Mourinho’s approach.
Together with Tottenham Hotspur, the Mancunians have the least lost matches in the Premier League 2016/2017. Only three matches were lost, and United’s last defeat in the Premier League was end October 2016 against Chelsea.
Opposite to Manchester City, United have a rather tough string of matches left this season. Apart from tonight’s match at the Etihad the Mancunians have to travel to Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. In the meantime the club has 2 matches to play in the semi finals of the Europa League.
Similar to his colleague Guardiola, Mourinho will have to deal with a long list o injured players. We all have seen the footage of that horrible Z. Ibrahimović injury. Prediction is he will be out 9 months at least, if the injury doesn’t turn out to be career ending. Also out are P. Pogba, M. Rojo, Mata, Smalling and Jones.

Manchester City vs Manchester United Betting Predictions
Both teams are struggling to field their strongest line up tonight because of injuries. Checking team news before the game therefor is evident. I think injury woes are in favor of the hosts City, who clearly have more depth in their squad. For Manchester United it will be a matter of trying to steal a point from the Etihad, and Mourinho will have a (defensive) match plan accordingly.
Guardiola needs a big win, and I am very confident he will get his tonight. City easily cruised past all smaller teams in the Premier League this season, but top matches have not seen the desired results. This is the last chance for the Citizens this season to showcase their class versus a direct competitor, and this Manchester derby looks to be the perfect opportunity.
