The English champions Manchester City have set their sights on Napoli forward Edinson Cavani as they look to rebuild their squad for next season. Cavani is having another terrific season in Serie A and has established himself as one of Europe’s top marksmen.
There are plenty of other teams interested in Cavani, including the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus, and Internazionale. However, the player’s £55 million price tag is one that only a limited number of clubs can match.
City’s only realistic competition for his signature will come from Paris Saint Germain. However, the French club has Zlatan Ibrahimovic, giving City a clear path at Cavani. A Citizens coach, Angelo Gregucci, spoke about City’s interest in Cavani:
“City will definitely have competition for Cavani, who is dominating the Italian league with his goals and sacrifices for the team and whose contract has a £55 million buy-out clause. Edinson is scoring a huge number of goals this season, and it will be difficult for City to take him.The 10 biggest clubs in Europe all have Cavani in their sights.”
