A goal apiece from Neymar and Suarez saw Barcelona ease to a comfortable 2-0 victory away at mid-table Getafe.
The victory means Barcelona end a run of two straight away defeats and go level on points with Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, while Getafe are thirteenth and four points clear of the relegation zone.
Getafe went into the game looking for a club record-equalling fourth straight home La Liga victory and made just one change to the side that lost 5-0 at Sevilla last weekend.
Damian Suarez came in for Carlos Vigaray – who conceded two of three penalties for Sevilla and in the process got himself sent off – at right back.
Barcelona also had an enforced change, as Javier Mascherano’s red card in the 2-1 win against Eibar saw Jeremy Mathieu recalled at centre-back.
The La Liga champions could have been ahead after just one minute when Sergio Roberto put Neymar through. With the angle against the Brazilian, he chipped to the back post for Munir, whose improvised flick from two yards went just wide.
Getafe then had a wonderful chance to take a shock lead when Pablo Sarabia set Victor Rodriguez free down the left. Rodriguez crossed for Stefan Scepovic to scuff a 12-yard volley just wide and sound a warning to their illustrious visitors.
A scrappy game saw Barcelona’s chances limited, and it was with help from Getafe’s generous defending that they got their first goal.
Santiago Vergini gave the ball straight to Luis Suarez, who worked the ball wide to Jordi Alba. Alba’s cross was delightfully flicked by Sergio Roberto into the path of Suarez, whose calm finish saw the Uruguayan notch his 300th senior goal.
Barcelona’s second goal and Neymar’s ninth of the season came against the run of play as Getafe had a series of corners just before.
Claudio Bravo’s early release sent Barcelona on the counter attack, and Sergi Roberto got his second assist of the match to pick out Neymar at the far post. The Brazilian striker notched his ninth goal of the season with a calm volley from eight yards on 58 minutes.
That goal killed off any hope of a Getafe fightback as Barcelona began to express themselves more after a tough opening hour.
Getafe were on the ropes and Barcelona could have added to their two goals. Dani Alves – making his 400th La Liga appearance, volleyed straight at Vicente Guaita when well placed.
A minute later, Jordi Alba cut inside from the left wing and fired a low shot into the netting from the corner of the box.
Guaita was to be tested once more as the marauding Alba again found himself with time in the Getafe box after a fantastic pass from Neymar. The left back took his time but Guaita stayed big and Alba could only poked straight at him.
Getafe rarely threatened to pull a goal back as a relatively low-key game petered out, with Barcelona more than happy to keep possession.
