Crystal Palace began their pre-season preparations in Portugal on Monday, where the team, under Ian Holloway, aim to reach full fitness and prepare both mentally and physically for their return to England’s top-flight.
All staff and players will enjoy the training camp in Portugal before their string of pre-season fixtures begins later this month. New signings Dwight Gayle and Jerome Thomas, along with six youth players, will use the opportunity to meet and bond with their new teammates and coaching staff.
After their training camp in Portugal, Palace will begin their pre-season fixtures against League Two’s Dagenham and Redbridge on the 20th of July. Next the Eagles will face two League One opponents, Gillingham on the 23rd of July, followed by Crawley Town on the 27th of July. On the 3rd of August the Eagles will face Irish First Division team Waterford United. In their final pre-season fixture Palace will face Isthmian League side Dulwich Hamlet on the 6th of August.
Crystal Palace will hope for positive results in their pre-season fixtures to best prepare them for the challenging Premier League campaign a head. Their first top-flight match in eight years will be a tough one, but the Eagles will be looking to upset Tottenham and get their season off to the best possible start.
