Roger Federer teams up with Ze Zhang to play doubles at Shanghai Masters

Former World No. 1 Roger Federer will pair up with China’s top-ranked men’s player Ze Zhang to play the men’s doubles event at Shanghai Masters which starts in October.

Federer who has been having a pretty disappointing season so far has decided to play the men’s doubles event of the tournament where he will team up with Chinese player Ze Zhang. Zhang is pretty ‘excited’ to play with the Swiss Maestro where he says, “Surprised when first told about it. But I’m looking forward to it and will try to learn something from the matches.”

With 17 Grand Slam titles in his bag already, the 31-year old believes that playing the men’s doubles event at Shanghai will help promote tennis in the country. Federer has always been a favourite amongst tennis fans in China and that is probably why he will seize this opportunity to help Chinese tennis to grow.

Top seeds like Spain’s Rafael Nadal, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and Britain’s Andy Murray will also be playing the Shanghai Masters along with Federer.
