Chelsea v Watford Predictions & Betting Tips – Premier League 2016/2017. First of all a big congratulations to Chelsea for winning the title in the Premier League this season. Chelsea last Friday won their away match at West Bormwich Albion, going 7 points clear of Tottenham Hotspur with 2 matches to go.
The Blues will have the pleasure of finishing their season with two home games, of which the first is tonight versus Watford. The match will kick off at 20.00 BST at a completely sold out Stamford Bridge in London.
Betting Tips & Predictions
One of my very first betting tips in general is: don’t bet on matches with little or nothing at stake. Obviously the match up between Chelsea and Watford completely fits this bill, but nevertheless I will make a few predictions. Please mind your stakes, keep it small.
Because I like to think the the Blues want to treat their fans, and because Watford is a bottom team in a lousy streak playing for the rats ass, my first look will be at goals.
Watford doesn’t score. A total of 1 goal in their last 6 matches and a season total of 37, completely exposes Watford’s main weakness. Chelsea does score, and in their last 9 home matches in the Premier League the Blues found the net 3 times or more in 6 occasions. It is fair to say that goals have come from Chelsea, and that’s where I will look. You can bet on Chelsea to score over 2,5 team goals is 4/5 at Bet365.
Sure Chelsea will win the match, but there is only value in betting on the Blues to win to nil at 6/5. This is my second betting tip for tonight’s match.
My last prediction is in sync with my previous betting tip. As I don’t see Watford scoring a goal, I also recommend the no option when it comes down to both teams to score. At a price of almost evens, 19/20, Bet365 offers both teams to score: no.
Everton v Watford Team News
Chelsea has two more celebration matches left before Antonio Conte and his crew can fly out for their well deserved summer holidays. The Blues are finishing off an amazing season that has consistency written all over it. It was only at the complete start of the season, somewhere in September of last year, Chelsea lost points in consecutive matches. After September, the Blues have not lost points in consecutive Premier League matches.
Currently Chelsea has a total of 87 points, with 2 more matches to go. This is already 6 points more than last year’s league winner Leicester City. If the Blues manage to get the maximum 6 points from their last 2 games, they can end with a rare total of 93 points, two short of their record season total of 95 points in 2004/2005.
The key to this success obviously is their new coach Antonio Conte. The combination of finding the right tactics and signing the right players to execute these tactics can be completely addressed to the Italian. Conte has revived a squad that looked down and out after Jose Mourinho left the club in a deplorable state. Instead of an expected overhaul, Conte stuck with the players he inherited and molded them into the fighting machine they have been all season.
Conte needed two master moves to make Chelsea his. The Italian injected his squad with one outstanding signing (N’Golo Kante), and he granted Mourinho reject Victor Moses a spot on his midfield. David Luiz also was brought in, but the Brazilian is just another central defender, admitted, a very costly one.
Especially the revival of Moses is note worthy. Not often you see a new coach coming in and explore all potential hidden in his squad of players. Most times newly signed coaches come in, followed by a slew of new signings, if it was only to mark their territory. Great work of Conte and something that proves he is a top quality coach. Mourinho must have felt line an idiot all season, seeing his former team play so extremely good.
Tonight Chelsea will have pretty ‘fit’ squad for their celebration match versus Watford. The main question is: who will be sober enough to play tonight? Antonio Conte can make use of a fully fit team, but will rotate a number of players for sure.
The Hornets are finishing a season of which can be said: mission accomplished. Although Watford is in a horrible streak, 5 form their last 6 were lost, the team never really got into relegation trouble, which is obviously an amazing achievement considering they have one of the smallest budgets in the Premier League.
Walter Mazzarri has a list of injured players. M. Britosm, C. Cathcart, Y. Kaboul, M. Zárate and R. Pereyra will all most likely be unavailable for tonight’s match at the Bridge.
